Jurie Matthee, a 25-year-old rugby prodigy, is making waves in the BKT URC as the league's top points scorer. With 52 points so far this season, he's helping the DHL Stormers dominate the competition, winning their opening five league matches. But Matthee's aspirations go beyond domestic success.
The Western Province native dreams of representing South Africa on the international stage, following in the footsteps of two of the country's brightest stars: Manie Libbok and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu. Working alongside these Springbok legends has been a transformative experience for Matthee.

"I want to play at the top level, that's my dream," he asserts. "I'm working hard to get there, and I believe that playing a lot of rugby over the next few years will be key to my success."
Despite the pressure of competing for the Springboks, Matthee emphasizes the importance of self-expression and enjoyment on the field. He's embracing his role as a playmaker for the Stormers, who are currently at the top of the league.
"It's about getting the momentum right and executing our game plan," he explains. "We're ready for the challenge, and we'll be looking to capitalize on any opportunities that arise."
As the Stormers prepare for a crucial match against Munster, Matthee reflects on their impressive start to the season. "Five wins in a row is a great achievement," he smiles. "It's been a lot of fun implementing our game model, and we're all enjoying the success."
