Sky TV Down: Thousands Across the UK Report Outages - What’s Happening? (2026)

A nationwide Sky TV outage has left thousands of viewers across the UK frustrated and demanding answers. The issue, which began in the early hours of Saturday morning, has sparked anger and confusion among customers. With no official updates from Sky, many are left in the dark, wondering when their service will be restored.

According to Downdetector, over 8,000 reports of issues with the network flooded in just before 7 a.m. on Saturday, with the problems peaking a few hours earlier. The online platform reveals that 8% of viewers have experienced a complete blackout, leaving them unable to access their favorite shows and channels.

The affected areas span across the country, including major cities like Manchester, Glasgow, Birmingham, and London. While the majority of problems are related to Sky TV, streaming services have also been impacted, adding to the frustration of customers.

Social media platforms have become a hub for upset viewers to voice their concerns. One user commented, "It's unacceptable that we receive no updates or apologies from Sky. Many of us are without satellite signal, and it's been hours since the issue started." Another added, "@skytv, we deserve some transparency! No live TV access and no communication from your end."

The Independent has reached out to Sky for a comment, but as of now, there has been no official response.

This latest outage follows a similar incident last May, where tens of thousands of Sky TV customers faced similar issues. Many reported their TVs crashing and being unable to watch live shows. Some users even encountered messages stating they had no signal, despite having a stable internet connection.

Sky Q box users experienced difficulties loading shows, and even unplugging their TVs didn't resolve the issue, as their boxes crashed upon restart. It was believed that a technical glitch caused some Sky Q boxes to enter a standby state, leading to the widespread disruption.

A Sky spokesperson addressed the previous outage, stating, "We apologize for the inconvenience caused to some of our customers. The issue was resolved promptly, and service has been restored."

But here's where it gets controversial: with recurring outages and a lack of timely communication, are Sky's services truly meeting customer expectations? And this is the part most people miss: it's not just about the technical glitches; it's about the trust and transparency between a company and its customers.

What do you think? Is Sky's response to these outages sufficient, or do they need to step up their game to retain customer satisfaction? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
