Premiering earlier this year in the Platform section of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), The Currents drew early attention for its hypnotic pacing and intense emotional atmosphere. The story follows Lina, a celebrated Argentine artist and fashion designer portrayed by Isabel Aimé González Sola. During an award ceremony in Switzerland, Lina nearly drowns in what appears to be a freak accident—but this moment changes everything. Upon returning home, she can’t shake the trauma that grips her. Kino Lorber plans to give The Currents a theatrical release across North America in 2026, followed by a multi-platform distribution.
