Imagine a community where the simple act of getting clean water is a daily struggle. For years, the residents of Nakpache in the Yendi Municipality faced this very reality. But now, thanks to the intervention of their Member of Parliament, Alhassan Fataw Jofa, a solution has finally arrived: a brand-new, mechanized borehole!
This isn't just about water; it's about dignity. For years, women in Nakpache have borne the brunt of the water scarcity, often walking long distances, especially during the dry season, just to find a source. This hardship was so severe that it was even highlighted by Channel One News.
During the commissioning ceremony, Mr. Alhassan Fataw Jofa emphasized the importance of maintaining the new facility and ensuring its fair use. He highlighted how the borehole will significantly alleviate the community's burden. He recalled that previous attempts at providing water, such as solar water systems, had failed. He made a promise to the community, and he is proud to have fulfilled it within the first year of his four-year term.
But here's where it gets interesting: the MP didn't stop at water. He also broke ground for a new CHPS compound, recognizing the urgent need for better healthcare access. He pointed out that residents, particularly those needing emergency care, have faced significant challenges due to the community's location along the Yendi–Bimbilla road.
At the sod-cutting ceremony, Mr. Alhassan urged the contractor to prioritize quality, utilize local materials, and employ local labor. He also appealed to the community to support the contractor throughout the project, emphasizing that their cooperation is crucial for timely completion. He wants the project to use local content and the labor should come from the community.
